“My Journey, My Solace” – the book
On 1st June 2017, my wife Carli Lansley passed away from Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS).
Carli was just 36 years of age and we have two children, Jess and Ethan, who were aged just 10 and 6 at the time
In 2018, Carli’s family established a registered charity in her memory. The main aim of this charity is to fund free ECG checks to young people (aged 14-35) to help detect any undiagnosed heart conditions
As at June 2025, the Carli Lansley Foundation has raised over £250,000, checked the hearts of almost 3,000 young people and found over 135 that needed a further medical referral
The dual focuses of being a single Dad, and running the charity, had given me some much needed focus and motivation at a truly traumatic time in the family’s lives but it still always felt to me that there was still something more – something special – that I wanted to do.
In May 2024, I set off on a journey to walk 1,000 miles around the South East of England. As well as doing this challenge to raise awareness/donations for our charity, it was also an opportunity to spread Carli’s ashes as the most beautiful, poignant locations that I passed through
This is my story. This is my journey. It is about my life with Carli, the senseless tragedy of her passing, my grieving, our amazing children, our charity and an unforgettable ‘pilgrimage’ of 1000 miles
All proceeds from the sale of this book will be going directly towards our charity’s aims to host more screening days in/around Southend area
